Wicked awesome

So I went to see Wicked last night at the Pantages with my mom. Leading roles, for those of you who keep up with Broadway names, were Eden Espinosa as Elphie and Megan Hilty as Glinda. Also, John Rubenstein played the Wizard. I thought all the acting was phenomenal, as was, of course, the play itself.

Coolest of all, though, was that in the lobby after the show, I recognized Stephen Schwartz, who wrote the lyrics and music not only for Wicked, but also Pippin, Godspell, Children of Eden, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Pocahontas. The only reason I knew him by sight was because I saw him give an interview and talk about the process of writing songs (with a specific emphasis on "The Wizard and I" and "For Good"), so I asked him to autograph my program. He seemed very anxious to be discreet. I said, "I bet you were hoping no one would know who you are" to which he responded, "One person is ok, I just don't want to be swarmed!" That makes the sense.

So.......... spiffy. Now back to real life.
